Location: Passenger side kick panel or behind glove box. (Imports underneath center of dash).
GM uses a Programmable Read Only Memory (PROM) chip that plugs into the ECM. The PROM is programmed for each application. The PROM must be transferred from the old unit to the replacement ECM. |

These units have a flash PROM that must be programmed by vehicle VIN number. The PCMs can be flashed via OE scan tools.
